According to CoinMeta, Wu said that the Circle Foundation announced its support for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Food Programme (WFP) in promoting digital payments and regulated stablecoin applications. Funding for UNDP will be used to establish a “digital asset innovation pool” to help offices in various countries advance related projects from pilots to regular delivery, as well as to improve regulatory, operational, and beneficiary protection mechanisms. Another grant will support WFP in building the governance, risk management, reconciliation, and compliance infrastructure required for stablecoin payments. Over the next three years, WFP plans to conduct tests in 2 to 3 country corridors to assess the actual effects of stablecoins in terms of payment efficiency, transparency, and resilience.
