According to CoinMeta, after receiving reports that attackers had unauthorized access to older versions of the software and extracted funds from connected Bitcoin hot wallets, BTCPay Server warned users to shut down their payment servers. In a security alert on November 2, this open-source Bitcoin payment processor stated that it was investigating the reports of unauthorized wallet withdrawals and requested operators to temporarily shut down their instances. BTCPay Server indicated that no credible reports of thefts from users running the latest version 2.4.7 of the software had been received, and urged operators to keep their software up-to-date. The project has not yet disclosed the amount of cryptocurrency stolen, the number of affected servers, or the number of users who reported losses.
