Trump: Oil prices drop significantly due to expectations of reconciliation between the US and Iran
2026-11-04 02:04:52
According to CoinMeta, Trump stated that oil prices are “falling like a stone” due to expectations that the United States and Iran may reach an agreement, causing Brent crude oil prices to drop by more than 7% to around $104.77 per barrel, with WTI crude falling to around $96.46. Iranian President Rouhani said that Tehran is resolving conflicts through dialogue, and Supreme Leader Khamenei has granted the government more negotiating power. Trump’s optimistic attitude contrasts with his earlier statements that Washington was not negotiating with Iran. The U.S. strike on Iranian Qeshm islands was described as defensive, and oil prices subsequently recovered some of their losses, WTI rising back to near $97, with Brent exceeding $105, demonstrating the sensitivity of the energy market to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Goldman Sachs warned that if Gulf production continues to be disrupted, Brent oil prices could reach $140 by 2027.
