According to CoinMeta, in order to further strengthen the management of rare diseases in our country, improve the scientific nature and rationality of the process for formulating the rare disease catalog, and enhance the level of diagnosis, treatment, and support for rare diseases, the National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine have revised the "Procedures for Formulating the Rare Disease Catalog" established in 2018, resulting in the "Procedures for Formulating the Rare Disease Catalog (2026 Edition)." The main contents of this revision include: first, adding more scenarios that can be included in the rare disease catalog, thereby expanding the range of diseases covered by the catalog; second, adding more entities that can apply for inclusion in the catalog, fully leveraging the role of relevant professional institutions; third, including the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine as a co-issuing unit, clarifying the responsibilities of the authorities in charge of traditional Chinese medicine, and strengthening the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the prevention and treatment of rare diseases; fourth, optimizing the cycle for formulating the rare disease catalog, allowing for timely updates based on actual circumstances in practice; fifth, clarifying that the rare disease catalog is for reference use by relevant departments in their work.
