U.S. Treasury yields drop to eight-week lows

According to CoinMeta, the market is digesting the results of the U.S. midterms, with long-term U.S. Treasury yields falling to eight-week lows. On Thursday, as investors believed that the Democrats would win comprehensively in the midterms, which could lead to tighter fiscal constraints and be beneficial for the bond market, 10-year and 30-year U.S. Treasury yields hit eight-week lows of 4.837% and 5.229% respectively, before rebounding slightly, but they remained on a downward trend for the day. After falling to a two-month low on Wednesday, the yield on two-year U.S. Treasuries was slightly above that low at the latest trading levels. Shari Hensrud stated that a divided Congress could be favorable for the bond market, but it would not solve the problem of fiscal deficits. A decrease in fiscal risks could support long-term U.S. Treasuries and put some downward pressure on long-term yields, while short-term U.S. Treasury yields are still more influenced by Federal Reserve policy, inflation, and labor market conditions.
