Dan Ives: Midterm election results will slow down the construction of AI data centers
2026-11-05 19:50:46
According to CoinMeta, analyst Dan Ives stated that the results of the mid-term elections will slow down the construction of US AI data centers. He now expects the growth in capital expenditure by large tech companies to peak in 2027, earlier than the previously anticipated period of 2028 to 2029. He pointed out that among the planned 800 to 1000 US AI data centers, 10% to 20% may be canceled or face long delays. In addition, he predicts that the stock and debt financing of large tech companies could decline by about 25% in the coming year. Among the affected companies, Neoclouds, energy suppliers, and some chip and memory companies will be losers, while companies such as Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Palantir, Snowflake, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, and NVIDIA will be winners. Nevertheless, he said that his overall optimistic view of AI has not changed; he has just become more selective.
