According to CoinMeta, today (the 6th), the construction of the high-temperature gas-cooled reactor “Chilong-1” at the Jiangsu Xuwei Nuclear Heating and Power Plant has been fully launched, marking a significant milestone as China’s independently developed fourth-generation nuclear power technology enters a phase of large-scale commercialization. “Chilong-1” is a fourth-generation advanced nuclear energy technology that China has independently researched and developed, with complete intellectual property rights. It uses spherical fuel elements and can withstand temperatures of up to 1620 degrees Celsius. Even if the nuclear power plant loses its cooling function, the reactor can remain safe through natural heat dissipation. This inherent safety feature lays the foundation for the large-scale application of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors.
