Thailand's inflation rate rises to 3.9%, exceeding the central bank's target upper limit for the first time in over three years

According to CoinMeta, data released by Thailand's Ministry of Commerce on Friday showed that the consumer price index ( CPI ) in October rose by 3.9% year-on-year, higher than September's 2.82%, and also far exceeded economists' expected median of 3.33%. This marked the first time it surpassed the Thai Central Bank's inflation target range of 1% to 3%. This complicates the policy prospects for the Thai Central Bank, which is currently maintaining low borrowing costs to support weak domestic demand. The governor of the Thai Central Bank stated that if economic growth accelerates and inflation exceeds expectations, the bank will consider raising interest rates, but the current policy interest rate of 1% is considered appropriate.
