According to CoinMeta, the King of Belgium has requested that the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Bart De Wever continue negotiations on budget issues in order to rectify the country's strained public finances and prevent a government collapse. The Belgian Royal Palace issued a statement after a meeting between King Philippe and De Wever in Brussels, stating that the two sides will meet again on November 16th. The statement emphasized the necessity of finding a fair balance between maintaining social cohesion and promoting economic growth. Belgium has previously experienced several days of political turmoil. De Wever submitted his resignation to King Philippe on Monday, but the king decided to postpone accepting it and instead met with the leaders of the ruling five-party coalition throughout this week to encourage further negotiations. The coalition has been struggling to reach an agreement on budget matters. As Belgium's fiscal prospects deteriorate, this dispute has become increasingly urgent. Following two downgrades last year, Belgium has faced another two downgrades this year. According to the central bank's forecasts, Belgium's fiscal deficit will account for 5.2% of its gross domestic product in 2025, the highest level in the Eurozone, and is expected to further expand to 5.7% by 2028.
