BNB Smart Chain Releases RETH Vulnerability Fix Patch
2026-11-06 20:02:28
According to CoinMeta, the BNB smart chain ( BSC ) released a vulnerability patch for the RETH execution client on November 6, 2026. The patch fixed a vulnerability that was discovered on November 4, 2026, which could have led to errors in the blockchain state root calculations. Although this vulnerability could potentially result in financial losses, there is currently no evidence that it has been exploited or that any funds have been affected. The BNB chain recommends that all BSC-RETH node operators, including validators, MEV builders, full nodes, and sentinel nodes, upgrade to this version as soon as possible and restart their nodes. This fix does not require database migration or a hard fork, and users do not need to take any action. The BNB chain confirms that the vulnerability has a limited impact on BSC-RETH and has no impact on OPBNB.
