According to CoinMeta, Aliana took an oath of office as president in the Paraguayan Congress, succeeding Santiago Peña who was removed from office due to impeachment, to complete the remaining one year and nine months of his term. In her inaugural speech, Aliana promised that all customers whose funds were frozen in the Banco Veno case would have their property returned to them. Peña was accused of being involved in this private banking business, engaging in conflicts of interest, manipulating finance, and misusing pension funds, among other issues.
