According to CoinMeta, Chan Mo-po, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, stated in a blog post on the 8th that Hong Kong has been experiencing a series of major events recently, attracting industry leaders and tourists from around the world, which has injected significant momentum into the local economy. Hong Kong will continue to vigorously promote major events in various fields and improve supporting facilities to foster the more vigorous development of high-value-added tourism and the convention and exhibition industry. Chan Mo-po mentioned that Hong Kong's economy grew by 5.2% year-on-year in the third quarter of this year, with a combined growth of 5.1% for the first three quarters, marking the fastest growth rate in the same period over the past five years. In October alone, the number of visitors to Hong Kong increased by 11.8% year-on-year; retail sales in September rose by 6.4%, and total revenues from restaurants in the third quarter increased by 3.1%. Chan Mo-po also noted that the second phase of the AsiaWorld-Expo Complex is expected to be completed in 2028, adding a multi-purpose venue that can accommodate about 20,000 people; the North Wan Chai redevelopment project is also advancing at full speed. Once these two projects are completed, Hong Kong's large-scale convention and exhibition space will increase by more than 40%, providing a broader stage for different organizers to realize more innovative ideas. The Hong Kong Tourism Board will also continue to work together with the industry and various institutions to design more unique experiences and services tailored for high-value-added tourists.
