New York, October 7th / PRNewswire / -- Synera Funds Today, we announce the launch of Synera Funds Takumi + ETF (Code: SMTJ). This fund will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker Arca, providing investors with a differentiated, actively managed Japanese stock strategy ETF.
SMTJ aims to achieve capital appreciation through a fundamental approach that combines investment theme screening with bottom-up stock selection in Japan based on fundamentals. To enhance overall return sources and reduce volatility, the fund also incorporates a systematic futures overlay strategy. The goal is to generate complementary and low-correlated returns across global markets and asset classes, while mitigating downside risks without the need for additional capital allocation.
Synera Funds believes that Japan is undergoing a structural transformation, moving towards higher nominal growth, greater capital efficiency, and more prudent corporate governance. Enterprises are increasingly focusing on return on equity, optimization of their balance sheets, and shareholder returns, while rising wages and the normalization of inflation are also supporting domestic demand. Coupled with the attractive relative valuations across various market sectors, as well as Japan's global leadership in areas such as automation, technology, and advanced manufacturing, Synera Funds believes that these factors create differentiated opportunities for investors seeking long-term investment opportunities and seeking to diversify their global stock portfolios.
Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management Americas, Inc. President and CEO Yusuke Karube stated: "We believe that this partnership provides an important opportunity to bring the professional capabilities of SuMi TRUST in Japanese stocks to a broader group of American investors. Millburn's experience in systematic investment, as well as Twin Oak's expertise in providing differentiated strategies through ETF structures, makes them strong partners in bringing this vision to market. We are delighted to offer investors a new way to access Japanese stocks through a transparent, efficient, and thoughtfully crafted investment approach."
This ETF brings together the complementary capabilities of three investment and product experts: Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management Americas, who serves as a model deputy advisor for Japanese stock strategies, providing SuMi TRUST's fundamental expertise in Japanese stocks; Millburn Ridgefield LLC acts as an investment advisor, responsible for overseeing the entire portfolio and managing systematic futures overlay strategies; and Twin Oak ETF Company is the initiator of this ETF, as well as the operational and distribution partner, focusing on bringing differentiated, actively managed investment strategies to American investors, including Synera Funds Takumi and ETF. The combined capabilities of these three parties offer a differentiated and innovative investment solution within a single ETF.
Co-CEO and Executive Director of Trading, Barry Goodman, stated: " SuMi TRUST has an impressive and differentiated history in the Japanese stock market. Our research shows that Millburn's systematically managed futures approach – which we have been operating and refining for over 55 years – complements this strategy and is expected to bring risk mitigation, including lower volatility, as well as opportunities to profit when stock strategies are under pressure at certain times. We are delighted to introduce this hybrid approach to the market in the form of an integrated ETF, and believe it offers investors a greater advantage compared to the current Japanese-themed strategies on the market. Furthermore, we see this as an excellent entry point for Millburn to enter the ETF sector as an investment manager."
Twin Oak ETF Company Founder and CEO Zach Wainwright stated: "Active ETF is becoming an increasingly important tool for active management, enabling investors to access differentiated strategies in a transparent and tax-efficient manner. We see a clear demand in the US market for innovative Japanese stock solutions, and we are delighted to collaborate with Millburn and SuMi TRUST to bring SMTJ to investors. Their complementary investment capabilities, combined with our professional experience in developing and distributing actively managed ETF, together create a differentiated solution designed to meet the changing needs of investors."
