Rencore has expanded its governance platform from Microsoft to 365 days, managing various types of AI used by enterprises through a control plane.
The new AI and Agents functions will incorporate Claude Enterprise into the same governance system as Microsoft, Copilot, Copilot Studio, and SharePoint agents, which are identity-anchored. ChatGPT Enterprise will also join subsequently.
Munich, Germany, October 7, 2026 / PRNewswire / Rencore, headquartered in Germany and providing Microsoft 365 and AI governance tools, announced today the launch of multiple AI governance functions within its AI & Agents modules. The company stated that IT and security teams can now govern Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, various proxies, and Claude Enterprise through a single platform under one set of policies for the first time, and manage them uniformly based on the identities already managed within Microsoft Entra ID. Claude Enterprise governance is now available for preview, with ChatGPT Enterprise governance to be launched later in October 2026.
This preview is in a voluntary participation mode. Enterprises can apply for preview access rights and work with the Rencore product team to verify usage scenarios together.
Rencore indicates that this release responds to a transformation that most companies had not previously planned for. Rencore CEO Matthias Einig stated at the company's web seminar: “Copilot may have been part of the plan, but AI is now the reality.” The report mentions that analysis firms such as Gartner have also confirmed this trend, finding that two-thirds of organizations, while deploying Microsoft 365 Copilot, have also implemented at least two other enterprise-level generative AI assistants, and advise clients not to default to choosing only one supplier (see Gartner 2026 report “Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agents : Assessing Impact and Value in 2026”, document number 856639). Meanwhile, governance remains decentralized among the independent management teams of each supplier.
Four consoles, corresponding to the same person.
Employees now use multiple assistants in parallel: they use Claude for more in-depth research and programming, Copilot to handle daily quick tasks, and ChatGPT or Gemini in other scenarios. Each assistant has its own management functions and can only manage itself. The same end-user appears in the four systems with unrelated accounts and often uses slightly different email addresses; there is no tool that can provide a complete overview across all systems.
The data itself has not been migrated and is still mainly stored in Microsoft. However, according to Rencore, since the beginning of 2026, both ChatGPT and Claude have added Microsoft connectors that allow them to read data from Microsoft. Moreover, Claude can also write data to SharePoint, OneDrive, and Outlook. Each assistant that connects in this way inherits the issues of excessive sharing and content proliferation that already exist within the tenants.
Compliance and costs also pose additional pressures. Vendors retain audit logs for relatively short periods, with the shortest being only 30 days, so by the time an investigation request is made, the evidence needed for event review may have already been deleted. Pay-per-use models also make it more difficult to predict expenses: Microsoft switched to a pay-per-use model for Copilot Cowork in July 2026. Rencore also cites a McKinsey study stating that although 9 out of 10 organizations are using AI, only 6% have achieved significant value, as pilot projects come to a halt when no one can explain what can be accessed through AI or who is responsible for it (see McKinsey's 2025 report " The State of AI in 2025: Agents , Innovation , and Transformation ").
A control plane, built with identity at its core
In the view of Rencore, a new AI system is essentially a new asset list. Customers connect to each platform through the respective API provided by the platform providers; for example, Claude Enterprise uses Anthropic's Compliance API, while Rencore continues to update this asset list in the same manner as it currently does for Microsoft on a 365 basis. Microsoft Entra ID serves as the anchor point in this process: each AI account is associated with a specific individual; where single sign-on is supported, matching is done via single sign-on, and where it is not, matching is completed through email and pattern recognition. IT and platform administrators see "individuals," rather than four separate consoles, and they are able to formulate policies that span across service boundaries.
With the help of the AI and Agents modules, organizations can:
- Inventory of all AI assets: For Claude Enterprise, it can cover over 400 types of events, including users, groups, roles, projects with owners and collaborators, chats, Claude Code and Cowork sessions, workpieces, skills, connectors, and plugins, as well as 46 organizational settings. For ChatGPT Enterprise, it includes workspaces, custom GPT, proxies, service accounts, canvases, database files, and connectors categorized by project.
- Identify the truly important risks: for example, publicly shared workpieces or projects, external users and contractors with the AI role, as well as isolated accounts that remain active in Claude after the user has been deactivated in Entra ID.
- Track seats and expenses: View usage, Token consumption, and costs by user, group, department, or cost center, and identify idle licenses that can be reallocated.
- Retain historical records: Rencore will continuously pull activity data to establish a record retention period that is longer than the 30-day retention window of Claude Enterprise.
- Take action based on findings: Use out-of-the-box strategies that include 35 policies applicable to ChatGPT Enterprise, which can trigger automated actions such as deleting projects or canceling the release of proxies. You can also choose to involve in the approval process.
- Allow end-users to continue operating within Teams: Owners can manage access rights, approve, and review through the Rencore Teams application, in the same manner as they currently handle Microsoft 365 requests.
Rencore indicates that the company provides operational governance, rather than runtime safeguards. This platform only reads metadata and does not read, store, or display the content of messages, session transcripts, or files. It can be used in conjunction with Microsoft Purview and provides the latest asset lists, ownership, and lifecycle data required by EU AI legislation, as well as GDPR, NIS2, and DORA audits.
Rencore CEO Matthias Einig stated: "If you only manage Copilot, then what you are managing is just a small portion of what the employees actually use within AI; if you only see a part of it, you cannot grasp the whole picture. Management is the driving force behind the implementation of AI. When people know they are working within the correct framework, they will have the confidence to adopt AI, and IT can also remain under control."
Rencore Vice President of Products and Engineering, Tiina Rytk, nen stated: "We are expanding a product that has already been validated at the enterprise level, by leveraging the same set of interfaces, policies, automation, and access review capabilities that customers are using today for Microsoft 365. Entra ID is our anchor point. Instead of viewing each AI service separately, it's better to look at this person directly."
Availability
Multiple AI governance functions belong to the AI and Agents modules and are optional paid modules in the Rencore Premium and Enterprise solutions. The Claude Enterprise governance feature has now entered the preview stage, with the preview for ChatGPT Enterprise set to open later in October 2026. The company stated that they will also support more AI services in the future based on customer needs. On the Microsoft side, Rencore will add support for Agent 365 and Agent Builder by the end of 2026, as well as incorporate a cost analysis function for Copilot Cowork.
A web seminar titled " Your company uses multiple AIs already . Why do you only govern one ?" is now available on demand at rencore.com. Matthias Einig and Tiina Rytk along with nen attended and conducted product live demonstrations.
